Why Auctions?

With the explosion of on-line auction companies it is plain to see that more and more people are finding out the merits of the auction method of sale. For decades it has been a recognized way to establish the true value of an item. Rather than just pit Buyer against Seller to establish a price, you get a group of interested Buyers “negotiating” with each other assuring top dollar! Pitted against the other bidders, you watch their faces, listen to the chant of the auctioneer and hear the enthusiastic response of the bid spotters until an item is sold. Not only are auctions a great way to convert assets to dollars, it gives you an opportunity to compete in a fun "sport" that requires no special training.

A Word from Loy

One of my fondest memories is helping my father work the livestock auctions in western Oklahoma where I grew up. For me nothing could surpass the excitement and action of those sales. Although I went on to become a CPA with an MBA, have been CEO of a contracting company for over 25 years and have an insurance, real estate and securities license, I still worked in the auction business managing sales and bid spotting for a local firm up until their close in the early 80's. At that time, I attended the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in North Carolina and was named "Most Likely to Succeed" for the class graduated May 1985. In competition I was named Oklahoma Auctioneer of the year in 2003. I have done everything from equipment auctions for the state's park department to small estate sales and charity work for local country clubs to the National Literacy Council.
